Comment on: About prayer requests

Posted in prayer requests on Apr 24, 2008

 in response to Sunday...

I have prayed that God will send you the help that you need.  I have prayed that you will be given daily guidance as to what you need to do.  I have prayed that you will be shown where you can get he help you need, the grace to accept it in the form it comes, and the courage to do what needs to be done.  I have prayed that this disability become a stepping stone to develop you and your circumstances to become a believer.

Thought this would be a great place to start posts of prayer requests.  Only thing- if you post for yourself, please pray for the folks who have already posted.   And if you experience an answer go to the Answers to prayer page and encourage the rest of us!  We would love to hear what happened!

I am just reposting this because the last one went to the bottom.:)

This is for folks to post prayer requests and prayers for those who need it. Only thing-if you post, please pray for those who have already posted.  Doesn't require you to type it out, although that is nice.  Also head over to the prayers answered/encouragement if you have experienced an answer or to encourage those who are still struggling.

I am so sorry about your child.  Why does it always seem like things happen all at once, and they are all the toughest things imaginable to struggle through?  I am praying for you- you are an incredibly strong person.  Your post was not full of self pity, despite the obvious pain.  I admire that.  It takes a survivor mentality to get through these things, and a decided determination to live through each day, even when we know the next day still holds pain.  God bless you.  I pray He shows you some sunspots of joy when you are ready in the middle of all this.

Have you tried applying for a grand diversion?? The state will sometimes give you a one time amount of money if you qualify.  They can also sign you up for emergency food and wat not.. There are also mostly Catholic charities who can give you food.

A New Day

Posted in melj on Apr 24, 2008

Today is a warm sunny day- that is one thing I love about his area- even in the winter there is bright sunshine!    We are making it- one day at a time!  We were denied govt. help, even thouh we met the qualifications, and were told there must have been some kind of mistake, and to reapply!   So we will.  My husband has a job interview tomorrow!  There are so many blessings in between the nagging financial stresses- we are hoping he will get it-he went to a staffing agency this time, and because he is a big dude, and done a lot, they are almost sure to have a position.  School isn't over for another year.  He was elected class president yesterday, which we are excited about!  We have food- somehow it always stretches just a little farther- even my wonderful coffee with flavored creamer in the morning.( A luxury for me, since coffee is now a 'non-necessity item' on our 'budget'.  Like a treat.  BTW- how do you budget when you have no money to budget,LOL????)  Life is interesting, even though I live it vicariouly through my husband these days.  I am applying to an online school for medical transcriptionist, which guarantees job placement apon graduation.  So, while we are still prety out of money, there are positives happening that money can't buy.

Had to say I agree, and too, my dh is half Iroquois, from the Seneca tribe.  I am part Cherokee, although you would never be able to tell, as I am blonde and blue eyed.  Proud of it!

  Great comments.

Hey there!  Been there- my husband and I make 'ghetto' jokes all the time too!  I am not a single mom, so I can't identify with you there- but finding treasures is exciting to the whole family nowadays.  BTW, even though my parents were dirt poor growing up, one an orphan and the other negleced and abused by alcoholics, they look down on us too.  My sisters saw what happened with my parents when I married an 'uneducated half breed' **gasp!** and they married men whose goals are to be doctors and they are nurses with only two children.  My youngest sister still lives at home in her twenties.  Which is fine, but not for me!  I went into the Army in Intelligence and married a handsome brown black eyed jet black haired guy who went to war and survived out of his entire team.   He was discharged medically and we have struggled since then, but you know, the American dream that is held up to me by my parents, I am finding, doesn't exist for everybody.  I am who I am and I love my family so much- there are times when I thought we were going to lose my hubby, and these days I even welcome his snoring, because it means he is still THERE!  God bless!!  Hugs!  I take the struggles to mean God has't given up on me yet!

You are a survivor and trooper - I am amazed and so inspired by your courage and endurance!  Wow

About melj

Posted in melj on Apr 8, 2008

My name is Melaney.  My husband is a veteran of the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, and was discharged medically a few years ago.  We have four beautiful children, and have struggled to make ends meet ever since we had to leave the military.   He is attending school now and will finish in a year.  He was recently laid off and his previous employer did not send his last paycheck, and the part time job also cut back on jobs and hasn't sent his paycheck, either.  We are now going to be evicted from our apartment if we don't come up with our rent plus some late fees.  We are current on everything else but the car, but we have simply run out of money. My husband has been accepted at another place this week, but he won't get a paycheck for another two weeks yet, and we will be forced to leave in by midnight tomorrow night.   I need some help desperately.  We have gone to DES and they said they will help us but it takes a week or more to process the paperwork.  I am usually too proud to do this, ask for help from strangers and DES, but I don't know what else to do.   We have nowhere to go- we can repay anyone who is willing to help by June for certain.  If you cannot help tangibly, then please pray for us- pray that God will soften the landlords heart to negotiate for a longer deadline, and pray that the checks and funds necessary will come in time!

  UPDATE!!!

The money has come in- his work FINALLY sent the money and the rent was paid the DAY THE EVICTION was supposed to take place.  We are so very relieved.  My hubby still needs a job, and we have all the other bills to pay now, but one thing at a time, right?  God does answer prayer- I am living proof!
